It’s not just about the guy wanting the relationship while the girl’s just running away. It’s about the most painful, unbearable part of an unhealthy relationship. The guy has literally given everything to the girl, his heart, his soul, everything is centered around loving the girl. But the catch is that he’s given too much away to the point that he lost his independence, his manhood, and unique characteristics that used to really attract the girl. They went out for three years because they initially really attracted one another. The girl didn’t just up and leave because she stopped loving him. It’s because he’s given so much that their relationship problems will never be resolved. He can’t think of any other ways to give himself. And the girl sees that. She’s leaving to save both of themselves, but this is extremely hard to accept for him.
